How can I get a job working in Russia?
I am fluent in Russian (self taught!! woo hoo) and have translated three books from Russian to English. I hold a degree in Finance, which I have not been able to use here in the US. Can I get a better job, even if it pays less, in Russia? Love Russians and Russian culture!

I agree with Yuliya. The Russia section is better. However, to answer your question-yes, you can try to get a job in Russia through: PeaceCorp, branches of U.S. companies in Russia (such as Kraft Foods, AP) or simply via getting a license to teach English as a second language (of course, the second option would pay the most). Good luck with your search

You could find a job as a teacher there, but do not expect to get rich, and remember the crime is very strong there, and there is no police protection. The professor of St.Petersburg university was killed together with his dog in his house...and he was Russia, and he was not rich. If you are willing to risk your life, try.

if i buy a laptop here in usa, will it work fine in russia
if i buy a laptop here in usa, will it work fine in russia?
ok so usa plug ins use 110megawatts russian uses 220 now i do have a converter for that though my mom is telling me that it will burn out and/or run very slow also is that true? because i want to buy a laptop to use in russia while i go there for vacation

Not Megawatts but volts yes the usa uses 110 volt and most of the rest of the world uses 220-240. laptop companies know this so there powersupplies cover the range 110-240volts. depending on the model you should also be able tochange the Video format from NTS to PAL assume that you use pal system. if its cheaper then go for it. all the best RR

in communist russia, the laptop buys you! if you're using 110 megawatts your electric bill must be astronomical!

The Southern Confederacy must have believed they could win. The Brits must have figured they could whip the Maoris and the Fuzzy Wuzzies, as well as the Afghans [twice]. The Mexicans must have thought they could win a war against the US. The Argentines must have thought they could win against the UK. ad infinitum.

After he signed the Treaty before invading Poland the Russians trusted him and did not expect him to invade.He also wanted russia so he had a clear path to Japan.Also, Hitler viewed the russians as subhuman . At the time Russia was also ripe for the picking . Stalin's purges had decimated the russian officer corps, leaving for the most part only political lackeys in high military leadership. This combined with poor military infastructure left them very vulnerable .

how do I get my parents in Russia to send me money?
my parents are currently living in Russia for work and I'm in the states. How can they send me money..cuz I'm running out of money here... do I open a bank account? or use western union?

Your safest bet is to get a bank account and have them wire the money via a Russian bank. It will take awhile though.

Bank transfer is the best way to safely move money internationally. Western Union limits are fairly low -- typically @$300. How old are you? You must be over 18 to open a bank account. If you're over 18, you should already have an account -- it's crucial!
