Which part of the 1900s? In the early years, 1900 - 1918, the country was ruled by the Czar, a monarch with dictatorial powers. Right at the end of WWI, The Bolshevik Revolution took place, and the political system really didn't change too much. Lenin, then Stalin took over and also ruled dictatorially. This worked really well during WWII, as dictatorships are much more efficient than democracies, not better, just more efficient since nobody debates or votes. The economy of Russia was horrible from the beginning. Stalin's five year plans did nothing to help, and radical spending on the military kept the country bankrupt. The economic situation never did improve. In the 1980's, because of the economic woes, the communistic government/economy fell. Today, there is a limited form of democracy, but the people are still poor and the government is starting to spend more and more on the military.

They are? I don't see anyone stopping Iran except Israel

It's not a very good bargain. Russia gets to reclaim its entire Cold War sphere of influence, and in return we get help stopping a state on the verge of collapse from doing something it doesn't have the power to do anyway. Turning our backs on the Eastern European democracies is a good way of convincing future potential partners that we can't be relied upon.

Ha! Their not, even if they say they will, they just can't wait to get into Iraq. Didn't Russia just sell 5 S-300systems to Iran and deny it, since when can we believe a word they say.
4 :
Russia has nothing but Islamic countries on its southern borders. She is, as always, acting in her own self-interest. That Russia can get the proposed missile shield dropped is only icing on her cake.
5 :
They aren't. They make a promise in return for actual results from the other side. The promise WAS their end of the bargain. They needn't actually do it and they won't. That's how Democrats negotiate. (if they were here, they'd be Democrats - that isn't even a debatable point)

they aren't going to stop iran from doing anything!!! they will sell technology to iran and make billions, and when their nuclear weapon program gets wiped out oil will hit the roof and russia will again make billions!!!

well if they are (I am not sure,) it would be because Obama likes his terrorist friends, thats option A, or option B is he ain't got the stones to do so.. or there is option C, being both A & B

Im considereing finance, accounting, engineering, computer science, or economics or a combination of 2. i want to be wealthy too. I wanna be like the guys you see in nice mercedes with nice clothing driving around moscow. What would be my best option? I was born in Tver. I'm actually relearning the language.

1. Get a job in an international company that works in Russia (like P&G, Coca Cola, Boeing, Citi Bank, Microsoft etc. there are plenty of them) 2. Go to Russia as an expat within this company - this is a guarantee of a very sweet package to ensure you have a nice car etc. & it does not matter what major you have since you are in the company.

OK... What does your psychiatrist say about it?
3 :
Start by contacting Russian embassy where you live.

I think you shouldnt worry about education- what do you like- thats what your choice! about living and working here : 1) You must have registration and a permit to work 2) You MUST KNOW RUSSIAN well!!!! very well!!!! 3) You should have money for the fidts time and friends here If you know Russian and English in moscow you can get (earn) min 830$ . and work, work, work...hard work... and about education: medecin (I'm afraid you must be specialist! ), engineering, computer science, philologist, teacher (native speaker/ tutor can earn 100$ per 90 min - that price are fucked me, so much for 1.5h)

The minimum is you don't get paid at all. Are you sure you wouldn't rather know the average salary? 2001 Article: http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9800E6DD163CF935A15756C0A9679C8B63&n=Top%2FReference%2FTimes%20Topics%2FSubjects%2FW%2FWages%20and%20Salaries 2005 Numbers: http://www.worldsalaries.org/russia.shtml If you are looking to get rich you will be disappointed - but cost of living is cheaper there too. Hope that helps!
