Yes and no... is it a multi band "world phone" then it will work in Russia, but you will need a different SIM card you can but in Moscow or any other larger city. If your's isn't a world phone and you aren't an elitist you can but a AT&T flip multiband phone on ebay for about $20.

The correct answer is no. Verizon's network (and thus its phones) are not compatible with Russian networks. AT&T and TMobile phones will work in Russia.

I have one that works in Russia. It is the Verizon Android Hero, it has a SIM card. You need to have a multiband phone(triband or quadband) to have it work. All of my ATT phones work because they were multiband with SIM cards, Sprint never worked because it is a PCS system. It is also very expensive to call and even text with a Western phone. My advise would be to stop by any cell phone store and just buy a cheap phone there, any Russian company will be good. Beeline for example, or MTC. You can get a phone for about 20 dollars, 17 Euro. Then you just pay for minutes, all Russians I know just buy minutes, their phones are pay for use phones. With the cost for the phone and the minutes you buy, it is still cheaper than using your phone in Russia.
