i understand that it would probably need to be jailborken and or unlocked, but does it have the specification it needs to be able to work with Russian sim card? Thank you

First off, you have the wrong terminology. There isn't a 1G iPhone. There are three models, the iPhone, iPhone 3G, and iPhone 3GS. And yes they are GSM phones so if unlocked they can be used anywhere in the world.
